Tessellate.

I started these iPhone doodles several years ago when playing with some apps on my phone. Usually, I was waiting in a line up or just relaxing and fooling around with the available technology. Becoming more familiar with the techniques, I began to take photographs specifically to manipulate. A tree became a shape that could be striated or patterned into a different visual experience. A horizon could be obscured to be a series of lines or colours. Part of me likes the idea of order and chaos, the juxtaposition of organic and human manipulation. Thinking about the infinite variety of patterns in nature, be it honeycombs, spiderwebs, plants, the tessellations are an extension of what already exists plainly in our environment.
