Silhouettes

These drawings are a simplification of form, observing human interaction within the urban and natural environment. The silhouettes are a representation, but also a reduction and an instance of erasure by pigmented shadows. Completely removing the landscape from the image, the shapes are provocative to me. Body language became the dominant focus, rather than the complexity of individual and their presence in the landscape. The project began months before the Coronavirus, but now takes on a different gravity as society has become isolated and the freedom of movement is limited.
